 Overview

DialStyle is a mobile experience create by Sosolimited that lets you generate and share your own unique clothing designs by simply typing in a word or phrase.

We worked with Wasserman to create DialStyle as the centerpiece of Microsoft’s Make Style Happen campaign. The mobile experience points to a colorful future for retail and customization, where people co-create with algorithms to achieve new levels of creative empowerment.

IMPACT

In the span of two weeks, over 40,000 unique garments were created. The campaign culminated in a series of influencer events at the SuperBowl, including a fashion show where NFL stars wore garments created by DialStyle.

HOW IT WORKS

The mobile experience is centered around co-creation with an algorithm that transforms millions of pixels of image data into dynamic fashion patterns. A responsive web interface allows visitors to choose their garment, tweak their design, and share their creation.

The interaction is powered by an innovative mix of cloud-connected generative algorithms and distributed front-end mobile graphics processing. The result is a responsive, lightning fast experience on mobile devices.

DESIgn Challenges

— One of the key objective was to incorporate Microsoft’s new product ‘Microsoft Surface Dial’ into the experience.
— It was important to keep the experience simple to use and easy to understand in order to get higher engagement

Solutions

I designed a three step Ui experience that seamlessly incorporated the product’s key features and helped create an engaging brand narrative.
Designed visual affordances to help guide the users throughout the experience, For ex: keywords in search bar cycled through to help inspire and assist, motion design for the dial.
